Good Morning, All! We hope you are enjoying the warmer temperatures that are finally coming our way, and hopefully the rain today will bring some early spring flowers!
Your SSC, Staff & Cadets have some big fundraisers coming up and we could really use your help and support! For those of you who are new to 715, our fundraising dollars go directly to supporting the Cadet program offered to your Cadet(s). From paying for trips and extracuricular activities, to the day to day running of the Squadron and facilities, these fundraising dollars are paramount to the success of 715 and we need everyone’s help and support to make them successful.
Here is the rundown of what is coming up – be sure to Save the Dates!
SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MARCH 30th & 31st is our Fortinos BAGGING Weekend!
This is a GREAT fundraiser for your Cadets and the Squadron and we thank everyone who is supporting this event by making sure their Cadets are at Fortinos on time and ready to go. As of this morning, the sign-up is FULL! Fantastic!! The Cadets work hard and have a lot of fun in the process. If you are in the Appleby and New Street area this weekend, be sure to stop by Fortinos and have a Cadet pack your groceries!!
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 26th & 27th – Our GIGANTIC SQUADRON GARAGE SALE at the Legion!!
- DONATIONS – Please bring in your "treasures" that you no longer need, and give them new life at the Garage Sale! If you are able to price those items ahead of time, that is a huge help! You can bring them in any Tuesday night, the sooner the better! No large furniture please.
- HELP – We need people to help in three ways – Friday night with set up, Saturday morning with prep (early birds!) and sales, and Saturday at 11:00 to help pack-up. We have another charity, Aldershot Lion’s Club, that comes and picks everything leftover.
GARAGE SALE HELP SIGN-UP – ALL SHIFTS – If you are able to help out in any way, please email Deb Settle and she will add your name to the list. Please sign up so we know that we have enough coverage. mohawksscfundraising
You will notice that the Garage Sale conincides with our next event…..
THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, APRIL 25th – 28th – SPRING TAGGING!!!
All Cadets are expected to do a minimum of 4 of the 6 available shifts.
As always, if your Cadet is unable to meet their commitment, they need to inform the CO directly so that they can be formally excused. 715mohawk
For those who are new to 715 and are wondering what Tagging is…….
"A day on which contributions to a fund are solicited, each contributor receiving a tag".
Tagging is an extremely low risk method of raising considerable funds over a weekend. In short, a tagging is when cadets stand outside of local businesses (ones that have been approached and permission obtained to do so) and ask "Would you like to help support air cadets" to people entering or leaving. For each donation, the cadet hands out a "tag" or in our Squadron’s case, a small bookmark with our Squadron information.
Tagging weekends are run twice a year – Fall and Spring, rain or shine.
For those Cadets who do all 6 shifts, there will be something special for them……more details to follow! We had over 25 Cadets do all 6 shifts at our last Tagging event! Let’s see if we can beat that this Spring!! The more Cadets we have out, the more money we make for the Squadron!! We currently have less than half of the Cadets signed up.
The shifts are as follows: THURSDAY & FRIDAY 5 – 9 pm. SATURDAY & SUNDAY 9 am – Noon and 1 pm – 5 pm For those Cadets doing both shifts Saturday and Sunday, we will provide them with lunch.
We also need parents/guardians to drive Cadets to and from their locations, as well as people to count the money coming in. The sign-up sheets are currently at the SSC Table on Tuesday nights.
Please note: We will be posting the online sign up next week and will be adding the names of those who have already committed to helping, so you and/or your Cadet(s) will not have to sign up twice.
Parents/Guardians, this is a great time to lend a hand with driving and counting. Please note, all drivers must bring in their license and proof of vehicle insurance. We would also like your mobile number (if applicable) in the event we need to make a change to your pick up location, etc. For those driving more than one shift, we only need you to bring this information in for your first shift, when we will photocopy it. Also, please note, we do not keep this information on file after the weekend, so even if you have given us the information last Fall, we will need it again for the Spring. Thank you for your understanding.
This is one of our LARGEST fundraisiers for the Squadron. Please help by making sure your Cadet(s) takes part and, at a minimum, meets their mandatory 4 shifts.
Due to great turn outs for Tagging in the past, we have had record breaking weekends for fundraising. We would love to see another record broken this Spring!!
We look forward to your support and really appreciate your help!!
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
